1 Year Anv: Gov Ododo Salutes Olamaboro Progress, Renews Pledge to Empower Grassroots

The Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, has reiterated his administration’s firm commitment to the advancement of grassroots development, youth empowerment, and community renewal in the state.

The Governor stated this through his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, who represented him on Sunday, at the one-year anniversary celebration in office of Hon. Ameh Williams, Executive Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area, held in Okpo, the council headquarters.

The event also featured the commissioning of some community projects, including the construction of a basketball and volleyball court, the construction of a Skill Acquisition Centre, Okpo, the renovation of Okpo Central Roundabout, the renovation of the Secretariat Mosque, Okpo, among others.

Governor Ododo commended Hon. Ameh Williams for demonstrating purposeful and people-oriented leadership within one year in office, noting that the projects executed were in tandem with his administration’s agenda.

He described the projects as tangible reflections of the Renewed Hope Agenda being implemented at the grassroots, stressing that the little achievements within the past one year show what is possible when leadership is visionary, accountable, and service-driven.

He further lauded the establishment of the Skill Acquisition Centre, describing it as a bold initiative that will empower youths with practical skills to enable them to become employers of labour rather than job seekers.

Governor Ododo also noted that the renovation of Okpo Central Roundabout and the Secretariat Mosque reflects a holistic approach to governance, one that addresses infrastructural needs while also promoting the spiritual well-being of the people.

He congratulated the council chairman and his family on the dedication of their twin children, describing it as an act of gratitude and responsibility that symbolizes faith and family values.

While commending the unity and cooperation among stakeholders in Olamaboro, the Governor called for sustained collaboration among traditional rulers, political leaders, youth groups, and community associations to further advance the developmental agenda of the present administration.

“What we are witnessing in Olamaboro today is a clear example of focused and accountable leadership. I encourage other local government chairmen to emulate this model and ensure that their impact is felt in every community under their jurisdiction,” he said.

Ameh Williams said his one year in office is filled with impacts, appreciating the Governor and the people for the opportunity to serve. He said the completed projects are a tip of iceberg of what his administration will give to the people, while appealing for more state government projects in the area.
