2023: We are convinced you can bring peace to Nigeria – Igbo community tell Governor Bello
The Igbo Community Association in Kogi State have pointed out that Governor Yahaya Bello has the right credentials to lead the Nation come 2023 and they were convinced that the he would proffer lasting peace to the nation owing to his genuine attribute of non discrimination.
The group which on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Governor to present newly elected Executives of the Association added that they were enjoying peaceful co existence in the confluence state under the leadership of the Governor.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, the outgoing President of the of the group, Chief Solomon Ikechukwu, commended the total transformation witnessed in Kogi state under the leadership of the Governor mentioning certain infrastructural landmarks completed and ongoing within the state as testaments to the good leadership of the governor.
He noted that one significant trait that differentiates the governor was the standard of the projects under his leadership stating that they as the Igbo community in kogi state were standing solidly by him and would always associate with him in his future political venture, even in clarion call to superintend the affairs of Nigeria come 2023.
Governor Bello in his response thanked the Igbo community for their support while he recalled that the administration inherited an Igbo community that was largely divided against itself, such that lives were being consumed and businesses were destroyed.
He stressed that it was pleasing to see that the Igbo community which he mediated peace in are now united and even recently conducted a transition election without hiccups or interference as was experienced in previous times alluding that such was the character of the New Direction Government.
Governor Bello hailed the Igbo Community for being peaceful stating that despite some of the reported crimes and criminality in Kogi state, no Igbo ethnic personality has been caught in any criminal act adding that they were peace loving and were conducting their legitimate businesses without aggression.
Governor Bello emphasized that Kogi was an example of what Nigeria should look like in peaceful co-existence despite being diverse as the state housed several ethnic group in remarkable number and have succeeded in living together.
The Governor charged them to continue to live in peace and harmony, and cooperate with leaders at all levels noting that as a nation the people have come to live together and could not consider dividing again.
He similarly admonished them to continue to pray for the success of president Muhammadu Buhari who he noted has shown to have their interest at heart, particularly referencing the almost completed Second Niger bridge and several social investment programs channeled to the region.
The group was accompanied on the visit by its National President, Elder Caminus Onyeneke, Barrister Moses Okezie Okafor, Director General Research Development and Speech writing to Governor Yahaya Bello along with other sources stakeholders of the Kogi State Igbo Community.
