2024 BUDGET DEFENCE: Bureau of Land finally Scales through, Apologizes for Absence
On Monday December 18, 2023, the Director General, Bureau of Land and Urban Department, Hon. Yusuf Nazir Ochi, made a statement of apology to the Kogi State House of Assembly committee over his absence for the agency’s budget defence last week.
The Director General commended the efforts of the House Standing Committee on Land, Housing, Environment and Natural Resources for coming together to ensure and improve development of land management in the state.
Hon Yusuf who gave this statement at the Budget Defence of his Bereau also presented to the committee the various challenges facing the Bureau of Land and the importance of the relationship between partners.
According to him, there are many development in the allocation of land in the State as there are over 2000 C of O allocation in this present administration which is a good achievement.
He noted that, other challenges ranging from staff accommodation and data gathering have already been put forward to the Governor to resolve in order to ensure good data-based information.
In his Budget defense, having been throughly drilled, DG Nazir said all grey areas earlier identified have been defended and put to rest. This is to the wit that the draft document is intended on a good faith to meet up with the day to day activities of the Bureau in consolidation and in continuity.
The committee chairman on Land, Housing Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abu Onoru-Oiza Jibril concluded the defense routine by assigning the Bureau and her team with a pass mark while assuring the Agency of oversight function by the Committee on a quarterly basis in order to ascertain how far and how well they are faring. He expressed optimism that there will be more development in the area of land development.
The Committee Vice Chairman, Hon Ebaiya and other members urged the Bureau of Land to make concerted efforts towards the development of land in the state and to make more impact with the budget as shall be approved.
The dust that rose over the Agency in the week past has finally settled and the coast is clear for a resourceful 2024 for the Bureau of Land.
Mr Nazir was asked to take a bow and depart with his Team of technocrats.
It must be acknowledged that, the crop of members of the 8th House of Assembly in Kogi State are men and women who are making sure no stone is unturned while ensuring a better Kogi State.
