2024 LG Poll: Kogi Deputy Governor Meets APC Stakeholders, Talks Tough on Credibility, Competence

As the forthcoming local government council election scheduled for October 19 in the state draw near, The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, has urged all stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to elect candidates of indisputable character for the party, while encouraging dissatisfied leaders to set aside their grievances for the greater good of the party.

Addressing the party leaders from Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, and Ofu Local Government Areas during an enlarge stakeholders meeting at his residence in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area, the Deputy Governor emphasized that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo cannot afford to relinquish any local government to the opposition, stressing the importance of unwavering integrity and competence in all candidates.

He noted that under the current administration, the APC cannot tolerate leaders lacking genuine dedication to the party and urged the stakeholders to ensure that all prospective councilors and Chairmen possess loyalty and competence.

Comrade Joel Salifu expressed confidence in the party’s victory in the upcoming election, attributing it to the commendable governance under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

He further implored dissatisfied leaders to be patient and embrace the majority decision in the best interest of the party.

He reiterated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s directive of 40% women representation in the councils and vice-chairmen, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the directive when adopting their respective candidates.

Deputy Governor Joel Salifu advocated for religious sensitivity among all party leaders, stipulating that where chairmen are Muslims, the vice-chairmen must be Christians, and vice versa. He called upon all party leaders to demonstrate unwavering commitment to the success of the APC in the upcoming poll.
