2027: Kogi Backs Tinubu, Ododo for Second Term

The former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has declared that no one can unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Bello made the remark in Lokoja on Saturday during an event held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, where stakeholders endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office.

Speaking at the event, Bello said Nigerians should be grateful for having a President who is genuinely committed to moving the country forward. He commended Tinubu’s performance since assuming office, particularly his efforts in stabilising the economy.

According to him, “Today, we are endorsing President Tinubu and Alhaji Ahmed Ododo for a second term. They have done well, they are still doing well, and they will continue to do more for the state and the nation. Any merger against President Tinubu by the opposition will never work—it has failed already. Nobody can unseat Tinubu in 2027.”

Bello urged Nigerians to rally behind the President to enable him to deliver more dividends of democracy, while also calling on Kogi citizens to support Governor Ododo’s administration, which he said has a clear path to a second term.

Earlier in a welcome address, the chairman of the rally organising committee, Senator Smart Adeyemi, said, “Today is historic in Kogi state political history. We are gathered in this mother of all endorsements, and we do so boldly because we have a structure that can win in all elections.

“We are gathered to endorse our performing president and governor. And considering the mammoth crowd in attendance, APC in Kogi has expressed their readiness to proceed to the 2nd term unhindered.”

“We are aware of the antics of the opposition, but Nigerians are resolute in their resolve to vote for Tinubu for a second term. The opposition has nothing to offer Nigeria other than looting our national assets. But Tinubu and Ododo are building and gathering for the benefit of the Nigerian masses.”

“Tinubu is building on wealth, creating jobs, embarking on economic diversification, poverty eradication through cash transfers, students’ free loans, social security, innovative leadership, etc.”

In his remarks, Governor Ododo assured President Tinubu of overwhelming support from Kogi State in the next election, pledging 99 percent of the votes.

“Kogi belongs to President Tinubu. Our people will turn out in thousands to vote for him when the time comes,” Ododo said, appreciating the President for his support to the state through federal appointments and developmental initiatives.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s achievements, including ongoing road projects across the state, the establishment of primary healthcare centres, renovation of schools, and provision of potable water. He promised to deliver more developmental projects before the end of his first term.

The event was attended by prominent political figures, including Senator Smart Adeyemi, members of the National and State Assemblies, former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole, and several other dignitaries.
