Kogi Rice Mill for commissioning in March
The much publicized Kogi State Rice Milling Factory would be ready for commission in March 2018 by the state Governor, Yahaya Bello, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Kehinde Oloruntoba has said.
The commissioner made this information public, Friday, in Lokoja, in an address he delivered at the Kogi State Agricultural Summit held at the Township Stadium as part of weeklong activities to mark Bello’s two years in office.
Oloruntoba, who thanked Governor Bello for the continuous support the ministry has been enjoying since he assumed office, noted that it has assisted the ministry in meeting part of the administration’s mission of making the sector attractive to the youths.
By that, he said the ministry has been able to create jobs in several hundreds of thousands, with more to come through programmes designed with hopes of arresting youth restiveness in the state.
He noted that Agricultural subsector has enjoyed several benefits from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture because of the cordial relationship that the administration in the state has enjoyed with the Federal Government.
Oloruntoba revealed that 135 people of the state would benefit from Federal Government initiatives in agriculture, adding that beneficiaries of the project would get a grant to the tune of N 4.5 million when the projects finally comes on stream.
The commissioner described Governor as a man who does not believe in ordinary rhetoric, stressing that Bello has made funds available for various programmes put together to turn around the fortunes of the sector in the state.
While also acknowledging the support of the Governor in providing farmers in the state with necessary tools to make farming profitable, the commissioner saluted him for ensuring that necessary incentives were provided them.
The commissioner, who was upbeat about the potentials of the state in 2018, stated that the state would have a bumper harvest that would not only feed the people, but also have enough for export to other parts of the country and beyond.
The Secretary to the state Government, Ayoade Folashade Arike had earlier praised the Governor for his dedication to enhancing socioeconomic potentials of the people through agriculture.
She described the Governor as a visionary who has developed important programmes that have ensured the development of the state.
