KGSG graduates 400 Step Up trainees
Kogi State Government has presented certificates to 400 beneficiaries of the Step Up program, an initiative of the Office of the Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo.
Participants in the program were trained in basic sewing and soft furnishing skills and were presented with their certificates on Friday at the glass house of the government house in Lokoja.
Speaking at the event, Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Rasheedat Bello represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade thanked the wife of the Vice President for incubating and implementing such initiative.
She noted that Kogi State would continue to seek avenue and collaborate in a bid to facilitate empowerment for its Women and youths.
She noted that the skills that have been acquired would help the beneficiaries to earn income and also empower others around them.
She Charged the beneficiaries to judiciously use what they have learnt to benefits themselves, people around them and the State.
In his address, Kogi State Deputy Governor Chief Edward Onoja noted that the initiative was in line with the Government’s plan of vast empowerment which would foster women and youth engagement.
He on behalf of the state thanked the facilitators urging them to take the good report of adequate security they witnessed in the state to their destinations.
Speaking with one of the beneficiary of the skill empowerment, Miss Aisha Isah, she thanked the initiator for the kind gesture noting that the empowerment would help her to meet her basic needs and establish a business of her own.
The State Coordinator, Step Up Initiative, Miss Joana Osigwe thanked the State Government, particularly the office of the Wife of the State Governor for the support towards the actualization of the programme.
She noted that the time frame was adequate enough for trainees to be equipped with the required knowledge.
