GYB@46 symposium canvasses unity, peace, youth leadership for Nigeria »

A cross section of panelist at the GYB@46 symposium on security and the roles of youths, have canvassed for peaceful coexistence, integration, youth leadership and women inclusiveness affirming that these areas would guarantee a safer and better Nigeria

The symposium discussants at the event included the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Dr. Bilikisu Magoro, a renowned female activist, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode, Dr. Moghalu George, Prof. Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia as well as the celebrant, Gov. Yahaya Bello.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba. Ogunwusi in his remarks urged the Governor to pioneer something remarkable in the country which the younger generation who were looking up to him could emulate while emphasizing that youth leadership in the nation was the way to go

He commended the Governor for his efforts in security, youth and women inclusiveness noting that he was a staunch advocate for seeking solutions instead of complains and that by giving the youth the opportunity to lead the nation several solutions would be proffered to our various sectionals and national concerns.

While urging the Governor to participate more at the helms of affairs in the country the traditional ruler called for more engagement between leaders and followers to facilitate peaceful conflict resolutions asserting that a leader’s body language were very crucial.

In her own remarks, Dr. Bilikisu Magoro expressed that Kogi state Government was the only state where the 45% affirmative statement for women inclusiveness has been surpassed which was one of the factor that has helped to ensure peace and stability in the state

She noted that women were critical stakeholders in governance and their roles as panacea for peace can never be under emphasized adding that in every event of violence women are also the worst hit hence government across board should begin to take women inclusiveness to heart

Dr. Moghalu George in a slightly divergent discuss stressed the need to differentiate between the various categories of youths particularly based on the age category and the state of mind.

He argued that a preferred youth is one whose state of mind was advanced and would be productive whenever he or she was opportune for a leadership position adding that power was never given at any time in history but taken.

Prof. Chris Mustapha in his own submission on the panel noted that citizens must like never before place emphasis on what unites us as a nation above the areas of divisions, stressing that we as a nation were too intertwined to go our separate ways

Highlights of the occasion among others include the Launching of a book titled “Governor Yahaya Bello through the Cases; a compendium of Governor Bello’s Legal Challenges and Victories” written by Bar. Shadrach Emmanuel as well as the presentation of a bronze piece by the Ooni of Ife.
