Governor Bello mourns Ibrahim Mantu, attends 3rd-day prayers

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has mourned the demise of Former Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu who died on Tuesday at the age of 74 years after a brief illness

The Governor who also attended the 3rd day Muslim prayers for the repose of the late lawmaker where he was represented by his Special Adviser on Agriculture, Hon. Ahmed Okara described him as a forthright leader who represented his people diligently and served his country

Governor Bello in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary on Thursday noted that the late Ibrahim Mantu aside from being a renowned politician of several decades was also a consummate technocrat who dedicated his early years to growing his knowledge of administration

He alluded that he served on several committees at the Red chambers and was similarly elected as the Deputy Senate President in 2001, a position which he dedicated himself to while also ensuring that his people in Jos Central were adequately represented

The Governor noted that owing to his dedication, Mr Mantu was appointed by President Obasanjo as Amirul Hajj twice (2005 and 2006) and Chairman Palliative Consolidated Committee for Cushioning Measures, the position he used to stop the planned “mother of all strikes” by the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Governor Bello commiserated with the Government and people of Plateau state and the family of the deceased praying for God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss
