Gov’t approves 350 solar street lights in Kabba, 462 for Lokoja townships in Kogi State

Kogi State government has approved 350 solar powered streeet lights for Kabba township and another 462 for Lokoja which is to go follow soon.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Ohere at the end of the State Executive Council Meeting in Government House on Thursday.

The decision is part of government efforts at urban renewal and facelift for infrastructures in the state, the commissioner noted.

He revealed that residents of Lokoja metropolis, Kogi State capital and Kabba township would soon begin to experience exciting night life as government approves installation of solar powered street lights to give the towns befitting look.

Approval for the project and several others were given during today’s State Executive Council meeting, held at the Exco Chamber of the Government House, Lokoja, the state capital and presided over by Governor Yahaya Bello.

The project awarded to Messrs New Moon Nig Ltd at the cost of One hundred and Five Million, he disclosed, is in addition to the award of contract for the construction of the 2 kilometer road to the College of Education (Technical) and another 2 kilometer road to the Obaro Palace.

Government, he pointed out, has prioritized development of the state, reason it is investing in critical projects, despite obvious financial challenges hindering development in other states, and stressed that, ” projects and presence of government is felt in every community across the state”.

Other projects that have advanced to stages of completion, the Commissioner revealed include, Specialist Hospital, Idah, Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba, and Idah- Ajaka- Umomi, which is at 98 per cent completion.

These projects as well as several others, including roads, health, water, education and power projects ongoing across the state, he noted, would be delivered on schedule, stressing that Governor Bello is keen on improving the living conditions of the people by investing in life-changing projects.
