KYDC to partner NTA on awareness creation
As part of it’s advocacy visits to partners, members of the Kogi Youth Development Commission on Wednesday, 15th September, 2021 paid a visit to the Management of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Lokoja.
The members of the commission were received by the General Manager, NTA Lokoja, Mall. Ibrahim Abdulrasheed
Chairman of the commission, Mr. Lawal Ozomata James in his address commended the organization for the numerous educative programmes down the years that has continued to impact positively on the lives of the teeming youths in Kogi State. “I want to on behalf of the Board and management of Kogi State Youth Development Commission appreciate Nigerian Television Authority, Lokoja for granting our request for this farmiliazation visit.”
He noted that the reason for the visit is to formally introduce the commission and also create a synergy where the two can explore ways that the NTA can help the commission to achieve it’s set objectives.
One of the commission’s objectives is “to embark on aggressive campaign against social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, kidnapping, armed robbery, prostitution etc through both print and electronic media. To achieve this, we must partner with relevant organizations like the Nigerian Television Authority because of it’s wide reach and quality programmes an content.”
He acknowledged that the youth of today need a serious value reorientation and be aware of the danger of some wrong choices and decisions they make.
“It is our belief that the relationship that will be created today will go a long way and be beneficial to the youths of Kogi State.”
“Kogi State under the leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. This is because the Governor included Youths in leadership positions. This decision allows for young people to be on the table where decisions are made, thereby enabling them to solve their own problems by making their own input. This is evident looking at the crop of individuals in the room appointed to pilot the affairs of the commission.”
The General Manager, Mall. Abdulrasheed commend the members for quickly identifying and seeking partnership with organizations that they can leverage on to reach their target and achieve the commissions’ objectives.
“The commission has a lot to do in creating awareness and in our part, we will look into various areas in programmes, jingles etc where the commission can air their programmes and get feedback.”
He concluded that the NTA will always open it’s doors to the commission.
