‘Kogi to inaugurate road safety advisory council soon’– Chief Onoja says
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja, on behalf of Governor Yahaya Bello, received in audience, the Kogi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Solomon Agure.
The Sector Commander visited to present a Federal Document, providing for the establishment of the National Road Safety Advisory Council, which he said, is in line with efforts by governments, as well as the United Nation’s Agenda to addressing challenges of road safety in the country.
Mr. Agure who revealed that states of the federation were already inaugurating members of the Council in recent days, said Heads of such Councils will vary between the Vice President, Deputy Governor, and Vice-Chairmen across various LGAs, respectively.
He noted that the Road Safety blueprint will stem the tide of road accidents and socio-economic losses through collaborative efforts with the State Commissioners for Transport, Works, Health, Justice, Education, Finance, Environment, including the State Security Adviser, amongst others.
Responding, Chief Onoja assured of a quick response to the Document in the coming days, adding that the establishment of a Safety Council is a step in the right direction.
