Okene Council Boss launches "War Against Drug Abuse And Criminality" (WADAC) »

The Acting Chairperson of Okene Local Government, Honorable Aliyu Bilkisu Avosuahi in a press statement issued today had announce the commencement of campaign/enforcement of war against drug abuse and criminality (WADAC) initiative aimed at curbing illicit drugs and it unlawful usage and marketing in Okene Local Government.

In her words; “it is believed that the menace of drug abuse and indiscipline most often than not transcends to commission of various crimes in any society, the problem of drug abuse in Okene Local Government has become a ravaging epidemic that we all must rise up to address while we still have the chance to curb this menace.

“it is on this ground, we must remain up standing to do our best with what we have and with the support of state Government and relevant authorities”
the problem of drug abuse and criminality in Okene is “on its way to being under control”, Acting Chairperson Okene Local Government, said.

Hon. Bilkisu called on the good people of Okene Local Government to adhere strictly to the laws of the land as it will only give the entire local government a peaceful co-existence, she urged the people to give maximum support to her special adviser on security, Hon. Zubair Amoka and relevant law enforcement agencies saddled with the responsibility of enforcing this initiative. she also charged the security agencies within Okene Local Government to immediately activate an organized patrol and checks on all dealing spots and zones of this unlawful substances.

Following the announcement of the declared war on illicit drug users, marketers and traffickers, the local government has promised to collaborate with Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement agency to take proper sensitization to nooks and cronies of the Local Government for proper dissemination of this information and to further enlighten abusers of the huge negative effects of illicit drugs to human existence and the society.
