Hon. Abubakar impacts Ayegunle Gbede community, provides portable water, drugs
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Youth Empowerment (Kogi West), Hon. Amodu Abubakar Ibikunle has donated a motorized borehole to cushion the water crisis in Agoh Quarters in Aiyegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Hon. Prime Abubakar as fondly called, threw the quiet town of Agoh into celebration as water was bumped from the borehole on Sunday during the commissioning of same. The event also featured medical outreach to over 250 people with the distribution of drugs to mostly aged.
The SSA said the idea to sink a borehole began burning deeply in his heart during his birthday celebration on 10th December, 2021, where he announced that friends and associates who wished to celebrate his birthday with gift items should rather send the sum to support his project of providing a borehole for his community, which he said would mitigate the suffering of the people in accessing portable water. He said friends from far and near, including appointees in government with deep passion for humanity and commitment to community development contributed significantly to the actualization of the project.
Prime who praised Governor Yahaya Bello and his Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku for giving him the platform to have a positive impact on his community said it wouldn’t have been possible without their mentorship, support and encourage.
He however appealed to the Governor to come to the aide of the community through the provision of a transformer to solve the power issue which has thrown the people into darkness and crippled economic activities in the town, stressing that, even the borehole provided cannot serve the people adequately without electricity.
The Commissioner for water resource, Hon. Abdulmumin Danga who represented the Chief of Staff commended Prime Abubakar for toeing the footsteps of their boss in giving back to the community. He said gratifying to see young people whom Governor Yahaya Bello has empowered giving back to their roots, adding that it is the character of their principal.
He urged the people to protect the project and continue in their support for the government of Yahaya Bello, assuring that more dividends of good governance would come to the community.
The community, through its Chairman, expressed their gratitude to the SSA over his passion for community development. They praised his commitment in attracting development to the community and thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for finding their son worthy to serve.
