Flood: Ibaji Council boss seeks more assistance to victims
The Local Government Chairman of Ibaji, Hon Williams Iko’ojo has described the 2022 flood as unfortunate.
The chairman made the remark while inspecting the level of damage caused by the flood at Onyedega the headquarters of Ibaji LGA of kogi state.
He commended the pragmatic and timely efforts of HYPPADEC for providing relief materials worth millions of Naira to the people of Onyedega community, ogwojibo community and Atiko community, pointing out that the commission as always being of a great help to the people of the area .
According to Hon Williams Iko’ojo, farm lands, houses as well as livestock in the area have been destroyed by the flood, calling on the government at all levels to come to the aid of the people of the areas.
He appealed to the people of the area to vacate the area for now as the state government is ready to provide the necessary succours that will reduce the plight of the Flood Victims across the state.
The Ibaji LGA boss also called on spirited individuals as well as corporate organisations emulate HYPPADEC in order to give more palliatives in form of medical attention, food items, basic necessities of lives such as clothing, accommodation, canoes and likes, saying the flood victims are in distress completely.
He maintained that it is very difficult for most of the victims to leave the areas due to their inability to access means of transportation and appealed to both sons and daughters of the area including lovers of the people to give attention to this clarion call.
The media unit of Ibaji LGA reports that Hon Williams Iko’Ojo added that government will evaluate the damages done to the people when the flood receded.
