Super Eagles Legends Pay Courtesy Visit to Speaker House of Reps, Declare Continued Support for Tinubu/Shettima

Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, the National Coordinator/Convener of Super Eagles Legends National Campaign Tour For Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Project 2023, led a delegation of prominent members of the group on a courtesy visit to the Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

During the visit, Dr. Ocholi expressed his congratulations to the Speaker on his election to the esteemed position and highlighted the significant contributions of the Legends in supporting the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2023 presidential race. The Legends emphasized their commitment to promoting unity among Nigerians through the instrumentality of football.

As a token of their support, Dr. Ocholi presented a comprehensive report detailing the group’s efforts to back President Tinubu’s campaign, which he entrusted to Mr. Speaker for onward delivery to President Tinubu himself. He reiterated the Legends’ unwavering support for the government and their dedication to fostering peace and discouraging violent conduct and immoral practices among Nigerian youth.

In March 2023, during Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 70th Birthday Celebration in Lagos, the Super Eagles Legends officially declared their endorsement of the Senator’s presidential bid. Following the endorsement, the Legends embarked on a nationwide campaign tour across Nigeria, rallying citizens from diverse backgrounds and political affiliations to support the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Project.

The grand flag-off event was held at the Famous Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on December 10, 2023. Representing President Bola Tinubu, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside other political leaders, dignitaries, governors, and ministers, joined over 60,000 enthusiastic football fans to witness the historic event.

Some of the illustrious Super Eagles Legends who participated in the campaign tour included Taribo West, Ifeanyi Udeze, Peter Rufai, Ike Shorunmu, Mutiu Adepoju, Julius Aghahowa, Victor Ikpeba, and many more esteemed football icons.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, expressed his gratitude to the Legends for their immense support and contributions to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu. He praised their efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and called on them to continue advocating for peace and unity in the nation.

The Super Eagles Legends’ visit to the Speaker House of Representatives signifies a powerful union between sports and politics, with the aim of fostering national unity and endorsing the candidacy of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2023 presidential elections.
