Defence headquarter refutes claim of Jihadist infiltration into Nigeria

By Akadiri Ademola with Agency report

The defence headquarters has refuted claims of Jihadist infiltration into the country stating that there was no evidence to corroborate such claims.

This was said on Wednesday in Abuja by the acting director of defence information, John Agim, who denied the allegation that ISIS has been “sneaking Jihadists into Nigeria from Syria”.

The acting director stressed that if claim that the militants had been training fighters in Nigeria was true, proactive steps would  be taken to “nip such development in the bud”.

He was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria to have said that it was pertinent to state categorically that there was no concrete evidence on the ground to back the claim.

In his word he said “The armed forces of Nigeria is aware that there is collaboration between terrorist groups, thus, it is important to note that the activity of one group in a country influences other groups in other countries and because of this knowledge, activities of other terrorist groups usually affect our own military strategy”

He assured that the Nigeria military would continue to condemn all tactics adopted by terrorist groups of isolating the Armed Forces of Nigeria, from any foreign collaboration, boasting that the armed forces was capable of defending the country.

Agim further asked that the ill motivated stories, clips and claims of the terrorist group should be disregarded.
