Constituency Project: As Kogi Assembly Member, Akus Lawal Announces State-of-the-Art Hospital to Transform Healthcare in Ankpa

On his election as the member representing Ankpa 1 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly on the 8th of March, 2023, Hon Akus Lawal assured the people of Ankpa Constituency that his time as their representative would rise far and above the common standard.

Bonded by his words, he promised excellence, started on the mark, and is admirably moving on track. So it is not surprising that in a groundbreaking move aimed at addressing critical healthcare needs within his constituency, Hon Akus Lawal has unveiled plans for an ultra-modern primary healthcare facility as part of his impactful constituency project.

The proposed hospital, slated to be a flagship medical facility sited at Akwu Community Suburb 2, Ankpa LGA is poised to significantly enhance healthcare services for the residents of Ankpa and neighboring communities and is scheduled to be flagged off on 26th October 2023 by no less a figure than His Royal Highness, Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed, the venerable Ejeh Ankpa and Chairman, Ankpa Traditional Council.

This ambitious undertaking reflects Hon Akus’ many shining moments to come, reiterating his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises by addressing the pressing needs of his constituents. The hospital project is poised to be a testament to proactive governance and a positive step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility for the residents of Ankpa and neighboring communities.

In a manner of speaking, Hon Akus has always expressed his unwavering commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of his constituents, recognizing the urgent need for accessible, high-quality medical care. He revealed that the hospital will feature cutting-edge medical technology, modern facilities, and a comprehensive range of healthcare services. From emergency care to specialized treatments, the facility also aims to become a healthcare hub that caters to the diverse needs of the community. While emphasizing that the project aligns with his vision for sustainable development and improved quality of life for the people he represents, he underscored the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure as a means of fostering community well-being and economic growth.

“We are determined to facilitate people-oriented projects in Ankpa by contributing our quota in giving facelifts in the areas of health, education, and other required infrastructure.

“We have already initiated discussions with healthcare experts, architects, and community leaders to ensure that the hospital design and services meet the specific requirements of the constituency.

“The project is expected to generate employment opportunities, stimulate local economies, and ultimately contribute to the overall progress of the region,“ Hon Akus stated.

So as the plans for the hospital move forward, anticipation and optimism grow among the constituents who see this initiative as a transformative force that will elevate healthcare standards and contribute to the overall well-being of the community. Hajia Salma Bako, a native of Akwu Community, commended Hon Akus for the gesture, noting that it will serve the medical and clinical needs of the immediate and neighboring communities.

Another resident farmer and trader in Ankpa, Mr Sunday Adaji observed enthusiastically that Akwu Community had never had it so good. According to him, there was no well-equipped primary health care facility in the community before now, a misnomer that had forced the people to seek medical attention outside.

So far, the collective breath in Ankpa is that the proposed facility will improve public health by providing easy access to disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation while generating direct and indirect investment opportunities. This gesture echoes the thoughts of Bryant McGill when he crooned, “Health is a priceless wealth. Invest while you can.” And for Akus Lawal, this is beyond a mere investment. It is a mark of genius and an omen of many good things to come.
