Kogi Assembly Member, Jibrin Abu organizes unity novelty football match in constituency »

In a bold move to deepen cohesion and encourage talents in the community, the member representing Ajaokuta Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Jibril Abu, has organised an exciting novelty football match to engage young players in his constituency.

The Match, themed “T3 – Odo-Eto Novelty Match”, aimed to build a stronger community and demonstrate the lawmaker’s commitment to their well-being, and recognising the instrumental role that sports plays in engendering peace in the constituency.

The House of Assembly member who also participated in the novelty match, as a form of support, provided brand new, high quality jerseys to the teams, along with a football, referee kits and other items.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of youths from various locations across the community, where they formed teams and showcased their sporting skills in a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition.

Speaking to newsmen after the match, Hon. Jibril Abu said, “I am thrilled to witness the incredible comradeship and passion displayed by our youths at this novelty football match. This event exemplifies our unwavering commitment to engaging and interacting with the people at the grassroots.

“Being here and playing football with my constituents has further opened me up to the challenges faced by the people and we’ve also discussed solutions. As their representative, it is my responsibility to ensure that the attention of the state government and other relevant stakeholders are drawn to the issues with a view of attracting more dividends of democracy to the people”.

Hon. Abu who encouraged the youths to take advantage of the bonding and socialising opportunities of sporting events, assured that he will continue to support talents in his constituency.

The lawmaker urged the people of the community to support the APC by voting for Alhaji Usman Ododo in the upcoming governorship election in the state, stressing that Ododo’s emergence would ensure the sustainability and consolidation of the gains made by the Yahaya Bello administration.

The youths who expressed delight over the gesture of the lawmaker pointed out that it was the first time a House of Assembly member would freely engage with them in the manner.

The match was immediately followed by a presentation of outstanding prizes to the participants.
