In every community, there are individuals who possess unwavering commitment to the betterment of their surroundings. Hon. Ali Bello, a passionate advocate for development, is a perfect example of such an individual. With a deep-rooted love for his people and a burning desire to bring about positive change, Ali continues to utilize his close connections to the New Direction government in Kogi State to lobby for much-needed intervention in the state.

Ali’s journey and the impact of his efforts in fostering development, although absolutely behind the curtains, deserves to be brought to the fore and commended.

Under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, the New Direction administration in 8 years has made significant progress in security, human and infrastructure development, and Mr. Ali has been a significant contributor in these achievements, from incubation to final delivery.

Mr. Bello does not engage in media hype or self-promotion. He is a man of action who quietly works to improve his community. He has undertaken numerous interventions and initiatives, yet he does not brag or seek attention for his accomplishments.

Ali’s love for his people and his state served as the driving force behind his determination to initiate change. Being a close and trusted ally of Yahaya Bello, they both witnessed firsthand, long before Yahaya Bello became governor, the challenges faced by his fellow citizens, from inadequate infrastructure to limited access to essential services. Rather than standing idly by, Ali felt compelled to join forces with Yahaya Bello, take action and create a lasting impact.

He understood that by working within the system, he could effectively bring about the changes that is desperately needed.

In his individual capacity, Hon. Aliyu Bello has intervaned in the payment of school fees at all levels for indigents students who are unable to pay their school fees. Few years back, Hon. Ali personally set up a scholarship program for pupils and students from less privileged homes, where he pays for their internal and external examinations including JAMB registration fees till date. He organises medical outreaches to rural areas where people who can’t afford it get free medical services.

I could remember sometime in October 2023, when Ali Bello visited the CMD of Reference Hospital in Okene. While on the visit, he was informed of a case of one Hadiza Danladi who suffered complications from severe high blood pressure in her first pregnancy at the age of 20. She happened to be an indigent patient whose family was not prepared for such complications but now in dire need of a cesarean section (CS) to be performed quickly. Luck was on Hadiza’s side as the visiting guest, Hon. Ali Bello paid for her surgery bills, she was operated on and successfully delivered of a healthy baby.
A gesture he didn’t even wait to get a “thank you” from either the patient or her family members.

This gentleman believes that access to quality water is one of the biggest help anyone can render to his or her community, not only does it quench people’s thirst but also serves a form of charity that lasts till eternity.
He single-handedly drills boreholes for communities across the state to increase access to portable water.

These, amongs many others too numerous to mention are Ali Bello’s ways of giving back to the society. The unique thing about this individual is that he does all of these from behind the curtains, not seeking for attention or accolades. A very rare quality is this day and time.

Hon. Ali Bello understands the importance of collaboration in achieving goals. Utilizing his closeness to government, he leverages his relationships to reach out to Governor Yahaya Bello and other key officials of government who shared his vision for development. Together, they formed a united front, and a renewed sense of strength and determination which has transformed to the several people-oriented policies and programs of the New Direction administration in Kogi State.

Through Ali’s unwavering commitment and strategic lobbying, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, a visionary, translated the shared vision into development projects, including the construction and equiping of model schools, ultramodern healthcare facilities, and general improved infrastructure. These interventions not only improved the quality of life for the people but also opened doors for economic growth and opportunities for future generations.
