Kogi Governor inaugurates Hon Haruna Isah campaign eggeheads

The All Progressives Congress in Kogi State and the state government have demonstrated their resolve to ensure victory for their candidate, Alhaji Haruna Isah, in the forthcoming by-election on the 11th of August, 2018 by inaugurating high-powered committees to steer the party to a triumph.
The committees were inaugurated at the Glass House of the state Government House, Lokoja on Sunday.
An emotionally – overwhelmed Alhaji Haruna Isah was speechless when it was his turn to deliver his address, but was later able to gather himself to express his grattitude to the Government and party leaders and supporters in the state for demonstrating commitment to his cause.
He said the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Chief of Staff, Hon Edward Onoja, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade Stole, the state party chairman, Hon Abdullahi Bello and other critical stakeholders and members of the committees have shown commitment to the efforts to deliver the party at the election beyond his expectations.
Hon Haruna Isah, who also thanked party loyalists from the two Local Government Areas and supporters, thanked them for their sacrifices and pledged not to disappoint them if given the mandate.
He said he was partly broken because of the shoes he was about to step into, and lauded the achievements of Late Hon Buba Jibril, who he said was his mentor and someone whose shoes would be too big to fill. He then prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and called on people from the area to join him in his prayers, even as also called on them to give the party overwhelming support during the by-election.
Hon Haruna was however quick to also restate his preparedness to ensure he attracts necessary dividends of democracy to the constituency if given the opportunity to serve.
“As has been said, would it not be better if the APC, the party Hon Buba represented was given the opportunity to complete his tenure rather than sending someone else that would clog the wheel of progress for the party at the centre?” he rhetorically asked.
Chairman of the APC in the state, Hon Abdullahi Bello had, in a welcome address, assured the Governor and supporters of the party of victory, stating that members of the committees were credible individuals with abilities to deliver their units and wards.
He said the APC was the party to beat, adding that they were not leaving anything to chance in their quest for total victory at the by-election.
The party chairman appealed to the people to assist the party in its efforts to make decision making on Kogi State easier, by ensuring only lawmakers from the APC represented the state at the National Assembly.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of other members of the committees, immediate past senator for Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Smart Adeyemi lauded the state government and the party for selecting such men and women of calibre to serve in the efforts to deliver the constituency in the coming by-election.
On his part, the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Matthew Kolawole asked party supporters to carry out campaigns for the election as though it is a state election, and not one for an election into a federal constituency.
He said the outcome of the election would speak volumes about the readiness of the state government and the state party leadership for subsequent elections, and called for due diligence in the run-up.
Speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Edward Onoja, assured the people of the determination of the state government to ensure the APC re – claimed the position.
Others who spoke at the occasion, including Hon Yahaya Karaku, Alhaji Linco Ocheje, the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Ayoade Arike, all praised the leadership of the party, the state government, party faithful and other stakeholders for their pragmatism towards ensuring victory for the APC on Auagust 11th, 2018.
