Igalamela-Odolu Caretaker Chairman meets with various stakeholders in LGA
It was a long day for the Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu local government area, Hon. Barr. Cosmas Atabor holding critical meetings with different stakeholders of the local government.
The chairman received the district head of Akpanya, HRH S.A. Onoja where they discussed on matters bordering on the welfare of the people of the district. The chairman assured the district head of the total support of the council to bring about improved security and wellbeing.
The Chairman also played host to Cashew Buyers Association of Igalamela/Odolu which centred on the critical stake the buyers hold in the Cashew trade chain and how to improve the revenue of the local government for the good of all. The council chairman commended the buyers association for their economic impact in the local government over the years but further highlighted the need for improved cooperation between the association and the new revenue regime to enable the administration serve the people better in critical areas of need. The chairman while thanking the leadership of the association, made a commitment to publish monthly revenue generated in the local government for accountability, transparency and judicious utilisation of same. The chairman of the association, Mal. Murtala Omale and his members were highly pleased with the meeting where they made a pledge to give their total cooperation to the revenue committee and the success of the administration on the whole.
The APC local government party chairman, Hon. Alilu Ochidi led his executive members on a congratulatory visit to the Chairman. In a total show of support, the complete executive members from across the local government were present to express their total support. The party chairman speaking for his executive, expressed confidence in the capacity and experience of the council chairman to administer the local government to greater heights. He praised God for having the chairman at a time like this and thank the former and incumbent governors, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and HE. Usman Ododo for getting the appointment right with Hon. Barr. Cosmas Atabor.
The head (Ardo) of the local government Fulani community, Alhaji Ademu Yajo accompanied by the Madaki also paid a courtesy call on the Chairman in his office. They had a good conversation around strategies to enhance peaceful coexistence between the natives and fulanies across the local government area. The chairman charged the Ardo to ensure coordination and enlightenment of his people in the direction of peace as the administration is committed to the peace and security of all.
The Chairman also had a session with the Revenue Committee wherein letter of appointment was issued to the Chairman of the committee to formalize his appointment and grant him the full operational mandate to manage the revenue affairs of the local government. The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Collins Adama received his letter excitedly and assured that he will not fail on his obligations and the confidence reposed in him.
The Etemahi, HRH Chief Abel Etuh received the council chairman in his palace. The Chairman’s visit was not unconnected with his high regard for the Etemahi and the traditional institution I’m view of the huge role the institution play in promoting peace and harmony. They had a good discussion in the interest of the general wellbeing of the people of the local government.
