Kogi State govt meets with UN Resident Coordinator to strengthen partnership
The administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has restated its commitment to harnessing viable development partnerships that will drastically reduce poverty and hunger in the state, which will concurrently promote good governance and wellbeing for all, using the state’s 32 years development plan.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable Idris Asiru made this known today when he led the state government delegation to Abuja on a visit to the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Mohamed Malick Fall.
Mrs Thembekile Dube-Ncube, Partnership and Development Finance Officer, who heads the office received the Kogi State delegation on behalf of the resident coordinator. Other UN staff at the meeting were the Special Adviser to the Resident Coordinator, Mr Fred Enoh, along with the Development Coordination Officer/Economist, Mr Nonson Obikili
In a statement made available to journalists after the meeting, Honourable Asiru said the discussion with the UN team centred on important areas of partnership with the state.
Other members of the Kogi State government delegation included Mrs Fatimah Okute, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and Mr Kadiri Mohammed Okeji ,Special Adviser to the Governor on Finance.
The UN Resident Coordinator (RC) is the highest-ranking representative of the UN Development System at the country level. RCs lead UN Country Teams and coordinate UN support to countries in implementing the 2030 Agenda.
