Lokoja LGA Caretaker Chair Visits NDLEA, Commits to Ending Sale, Consumption of Illicit Drugs
The Transition Committee Chairman for Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu today met with the officials of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kogi State Command in Lokoja.
The Caretaker Chairman who was received by the Deputy Commander, Mr. Tuki Andeshak commended the agency for the fight against the sale and consumption of illicit drugs. He noted that the Local Government Area will leave no stone unturned to ensure that this is brought to an end.
He expressed sadness that a lot of the youths have taken to drugs and to keep feeding their addiction, they have result to stealing, kidnapping and all sort of social vices.
“When the State Commander visited me shortly after my inauguration, I told him that I will return the visit to discuss ways to partner with the NDLEA. The Lokoja Local Government under my watch will not seat back and watch illicit drug dealers and users have a field day”
The Chairman who was accompanied by the Lokoja LGA Transition Committee Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Egamana, Supervisor for Health, Hon. Musa Mohammed and DSO Bala Mohammed announced that the Local Government is ready to deepen discussions on ways to rid the Lokoja of the scourge. “We are ready to play our part because this is our home, our local government and our state and we will do everything humanly possible to make it safe.”
Comrade Abdullahi also reiterate the commitment of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to clear all the breeding grounds and hiding places for criminals across the State.
The Deputy Commander applaud the Chairman for visiting the office and discussing areas of synergy between the Command and the Local Government Secretariat.
