NAKOSS National President Leads Student Leaders to Advocate for Quality Health Care Services for Kogi State Students

The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), National President, Dr Jeremiah W. Elukpo, on Friday led all NAKOSS Local Chapter Presidents and SUG Presidents of Kogi State owned institutions to a meeting with the management of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KOGHIA).

Dr. JW Elukpo appreciated the agency for the intention to prioritize the welfare of the students and stated that NAKOSS under his leadership will ensure that student get access to quality health care.

The Executive Secretary of KOGHIA introduced the idea of Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) which is ment to ensure that students utilize the fees being paid for their health.

He encouraged the student leaders to be part of this positive change to make history and serve as watchdogs to encourage maximum implementation of the TISHIP Program.

The NAKOSS National President appreciated and commended the Agency, stating that the idea of students being referred to Secondary institutions and do not have to pay extra is the first of it’s kind for the student community.

He encouraged the entire student Leaders to go back to their various institutions and commence sensitization to enable students know that they are entitled to quality health care services as it forms part of their school fees.

Also in the meeting, was a Permanent Board Member of the Agency; Hon. Jacob Abraham, who informed the students of the readiness of the Agency to live up to expectations as regards providing adequate health care services to students.
