Governor Ododo Presents Cheques to Project Affected Persons in Ankpa

In Ankpa, Kogi State, the Olubojo community witnessed a milestone event as the executive governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo presented cheques to Project Affected Persons (PAPs). These are people who would be involuntarily during the gully rehabilitation.

Despite the 10 a.m. schedule, the enthusiasm and the eagerly community members began arriving as earlier as 8am, demonstrating their excitement and trust in the government’s efforts to address their long-standing gully challenges.

Governor Ododo who reiterated his administration’s commitment to resolving environmental challenges in the state, including the Olubojo erosion corridor, that has caused significant hardship, loss in properties, and displacement of people.

The commissioner for Environment and Ecological matters, Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, who represented the governor at the event, reiterated the commitment of Gov. Ododo administration towards ensuring that the environment is conducive for human habitation

Chief (Barr.) Ladi Ahmed Jatto, OON, the Project Coordinator of Kogi ACReSAL, further emphasized that civil works will only commence after the compensation of displaced persons is complete. She advised beneficiaries to use the funds solely for their intended purpose and vacate the erosion corridors within the stipulated time.

Mr. Samuel Yahaya and Mrs. Jane Musa, who speak on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed their gratitude to the governor for giving them relief from their age-long sufferings.

This gesture marks a significant step towards addressing the ecological challenges in Olubojo and restoring hope to the community.

It is also worthy to note that the people oriented governor of Kogi State, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo, on the 5th of July 2024, also presented cheques to the people of Omigbo community in Kabba who were also affected by the gully erosion

The governor reaffirmed his commitment towards saving the lives and property of the people of Kogi State.
