Governor Ododo Affirms Cordial Relationship with Kogi Youths

The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed his administration’s commitment to maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with the state’s youth population. Governor Ododo made this known through the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, on Thursday at the grand finale of the two days Youth Engagement Summit held in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

Ododo attributed the mutual respect and cooperation that characterizes the interactions between his government and the young people of Kogi State to the inclusive and open nature of his administration and the dedication of the youths to contributing their quota to the development of the state.

The governor stated, “We are constantly engaging with our youths, we know what they feel and they also understand our plight. We enjoy a cordial relationship with our youths. Their energy, creativity, and innovation are vital to the development of our state. Our administration is dedicated to providing opportunities that harness their potential and ensure their voices are heard.”

The Governor stressed several initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, including educational programs, ICT vocational training, and entrepreneurship support. These efforts, he noted, are designed to equip young people with the skills and resources necessary to thrive in various sectors.

The Governor noted that the age long cliche’ of the youths are only good for tomorrow leadership no longer hold waters, as the current narrative of the country has placed leadership responsibilities on the youths.

He said, the youths who are imbued with mental and physical energies have been the key drivers of economic, technological and political sectors of all the emerged countries of the world, saying the summit was to inspire the youth of Kogi who are already at the helms of decision making process to arm themselves for the task ahead.

“We believe in the future of Kogi State, and our youths are at the heart of that future. We will continue to engage with them, listen to their needs, and work together to build a prosperous state,” Governor Ododo added.

Youth representatives at the event have echoed the Governor’s sentiments, acknowledging the administration’s efforts to involve them in decision-making processes and policy formulation. They commended the government’s openness and willingness to address issues affecting the youth directly.

In attendance were Members of National Youths Council Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter, past and present leaderships of the National Association of NIgerian Students (NANS), National Association of Kogi state Students NAKOSS, Association of Female Students amongs others.
