“New Minimum Wage Approval Will Ease Grassroots Engagement” – Hon Eunice Achimugu Commends Gov Ododo

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Hon. Chief Eunice Achimugu, has commended Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the recent approval of the new minimum wage of N72,500 for state workers. This new wage, higher than the national minimum of N70,000, has been lauded as a significant move that will ease grassroots engagement and support for state-wide initiatives, particularly in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Speaking at a public forum in Lokoja on Tuesday, Eunice Achimugu emphasized how the improved welfare of civil servants would enhance their morale, making them more receptive to government campaigns and social programs. She pointed out that, as public servants are key influencers within communities, the wage increase provides them with a stronger financial footing, which in turn, helps in garnering greater support and cooperation for government initiatives, including anti-drug campaigns.

“We are grateful to His Excellency, Governor Ododo, for his commitment to the welfare of Kogi State workers. The new minimum wage will not only improve living standards but also make our efforts in reaching out to the grassroots much easier. A satisfied and motivated workforce is essential in pushing forward the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking,” Hon. Eunice noted.

The Special Adviser further stressed that the increase is a testament to the governor’s prioritization of the well-being of citizens and the state’s workforce. She assured that her office, alongside other government agencies, will continue to intensify efforts to curb drug-related issues and educate the public on the dangers of illicit substances.
