Ankpa Chairman Receives Kogi State Controller of Nigeria Correctional Services, Hajia Hadiza

The Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Engr), Ademu Mohammed Yahaya on Thursday received the Kogi State Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS), Hajia Hadiza Inna Aminu, in his office.

The visit, described as a courtesy call, focused on strengthening partnerships to ensure effective rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates, as well as promoting security and social development within Ankpa Local Government Area.

In her remarks, Hajia Hadiza commended the Chairman for his proactive leadership and commitment to security. She highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between local governments and correctional authorities in addressing challenges such as overcrowding in correctional facilities and the stigma faced by rehabilitated inmates.

Welcoming Hajia Hadiza on behalf of the chairman, the Secretary of Council, Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim, lauded the Nigeria Correctional Services for its efforts in reforming inmates and preparing them for reintegration into society. He expressed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the NCS to improve the welfare of inmates and contribute to the overall security framework of the state.

“Our administration is determined to support every institution that works towards peace, security, and the betterment of our society. The Nigeria Correctional Services plays a critical role in transforming lives, and we are ready to work hand-in-hand to achieve common goals,” the Chairman stated.

The visit also featured discussions on potential areas of collaboration, including skill acquisition programs for inmates, infrastructural support for correctional facilities, and public enlightenment campaigns to promote societal acceptance of reformed individuals.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to mutual cooperation for the benefit of Ankpa Local Government and Kogi State at large.
