Ankpa LG Chairman Presents 2025 Appropriation Bill to Legislative Council

The Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council, Honourable (Engineer) Ademu Muhammed Yahaya, has presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the 8th Ankpa Legislative Council.

The proposed bill, which was presented at the Council Legislative Chamber on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 has a total budgetary outlay of Eight Billion, Two Hundred and Ninety Seven Million, Two Hundred and Ninety One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty Naira (N8, 297, 291, 780) for the 2025 fiscal year.

The budget proposal, dubbed, ‘2025 Consolidated Budget,’ entails a Capital Expenditure of Seven Billion, Five Hundred and Twelve Million, Three Hundred Fifty-Two Thousand Five Hundred and Ten Naira. (N7, 512, 352, 510) to provide all the critical needed infrastructure to support our local economy to foster development.

In his address, Engineer Ademu pledged to align the Ankpa council developmental stride with the New Direction Government of Kogi State.

‘This is an opportunity for us to continue and consolidate upon our urban renewal of Ankpa Local Government, as well as providing the needed thorough infrastructure for the overall development of our people,’ said the Chairman.

While pledging to improve the internally generated revenue by blocking all leakages and ensuring compliance by tax payers, he used the occasion to congratulate the newly elected members of the 8th Ankpa Legislative Council, following their emergence during the October 2024 Council Polls, and commended them for their cooperation over the past three months.

He emphasized the importance of partnership between the executive and legislative arms to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Ankpa local government.

The Ankpa helmsman also noted that the policy thrust of the 2025 budget focuses on human capital development, women and youth empowerment, infrastructure improvement as key drivers of the economy, etcetera.

Engineer Yahaya appealed for due consideration and timely approval of the 2025 budget, promising to faithfully implement its provision for the benefit of Ankpa people.

‘Let us, individually and collectively, render selfless service that will improve the quality of lives of our people. Together, we can achieve a more prosperous and sustainable Ankpa Local Government Area,’ he concluded.

On her part, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Victoria Ladi Stephen, said the legislature is satisfied with the performance of the chairman since assumption of office, with respect to the implementation of the approved budget and assured of the usual and continuous support and cooperation of the legislative council.
