100 Days In Office: Engr. Ademu Makes Remarkable Impacts
Engineer Ademu Muhammed Yahaya, the Executive Chairman of Ankpa local government Council, has made an indelible impacts just within 100 days in office as Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council.
‘Today, we celebrate a special day; a fresh opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the cause of a peaceful and prosperous Ankpa Local Government Area.
Ankpa Local Government remains an area of deep-rooted history, colourful traditions and immense resilience.
In the past 100 days, the administration of Engineer Ademu has acquired an enviable reputation for its people oriented programmes.
In several aspects of development it has led the way for others to follow. It embraced constitutional democracy with resolute faith and consistency.
In the process, and sometimes at great cost, it has been a passionate advocate of wholesome democracy. And in so doing, the administration of Engineer Ademu has lit brightly the path of all inclusive governance .
In seeking to meet the aspirations of the good people of Ankpa within the shortest possible period, this administration has paid a particular attention to the core areas of education,
development of quality human capital; women empowerment; infrastructural development; security; healthcare and the environment.
EDUCATION:
It goes without saying that good education is the bedrock of all civilisations. The administration of Engineer Ademu therefore undertook to continue the ongoing educational reforms which have lifted the public schools to new levels of excellence. Today, a number of dilapidated and poorly equipped L.G.E.As have been penciled down for onward refurbishment.
ENVIRONMENT:
To ensure a healthy and cleaner environment, Engineer Ademu initiated a cleaner Ankpa initiative and practically got involved in the cleaning exercises. Engineer Ademu readily has an environmental team, a team that works in all canals, drainages and black spot areas in Ankpa, an exercise he launched even right from the time he was Caretaker Chairman. Under the initiative, all the major canals, roads, streets that were turned to dustbin, drainages and black spots have witnessed total evacuation. On the part of government, Engineer Ademu said his administration will continue to do all that is necessary to enforce the town planning and environmental laws whilst urging residents to join hands for a better Ankpa Local Government Area.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
In less than 100 days of this administration, quite a number of streets were graded and expanded. These are the road direct opposite Onu Ankpa to Angwa, the expansion of road from Angwa Ogebe to the tarred road before Emanyi, the ongoing grading of Owele Rice Mill road, the accomplished Old Universal Hospital road, the renovation of Ankpa Township stadium and ongoing construction of a block of dressing room-with toilets attached, the drilling of a motorized borehole in Odagba and flag-off for the construction of a well-equipped Special Day Secondary School, Odagba, the attractive facelift of Lona Roundabout and mounting of solar lights. It also includes the ongoing project on the traffic median upon the double lane at Ankpa/Ayingba road and its exquisite black and white painting, the ongoing facelift of Ankpa Township Roundabout, the expansion of Akwu road, renovation of the block of Works Department, clearing of the bushy and eyesore Council Secretariat and planting of flowers. Construction of culverts, mounting of tollgates for the restriction of heavy duty vehicles, amongst others.
HEALTHCARE:
Health they say is wealth, the Engineer Ademu’s administration has embarked on restructuring of the primary health centres in Ankpa, adequate and effective drugs are being supplied to be given out freely with whistleblowers all over, should anyone wants to sell the drugs, and nurses have been empowered the more in other to create job satisfaction and render the desired services to the residents.
SECURITY:
Crime is one societal ill of which the generality of the people suffer alike, irrespective of status. The council boss is aware of the crime situation in many parts of the council area, On inception this Government put machinery in place to engage the men by empowering them, a result-oriented peace talk involving the stakeholders was held and today, Ankpa remains crime free, where residents can sleep with their two eyes closed. Engineer Ademu has also provided security vehicles and motorcycles to the three old districts in Ankpa local government, a right step taken towards combating crimes and criminality in the land.
Engineer Ademu has the will and, by the Grace of God almighty, he will continue to succeed. He is not unaware of the daunting challenges, but neither is he afraid to confront them.
