Rare Courage: Kogi Poly Rector Hails JAMB Boss for Accountability in 2025 UTME Result Crisis

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu O. Usman, has applauded the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for his courageous decision to take full responsibility for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result glitch that affected over 300,000 candidates.

In a letter addressed to Professor Oloyede, Prof. Ogbo described the Registrar’s response to the issue as a demonstration of “rare courage, sincerity of purpose, strength of character and proven integrity.” He noted that while the glitch itself was unfortunate, the manner in which it was handled by JAMB leadership has earned widespread respect.

Prof. Usman Ogbo, who acknowledged himself as one of Professor Oloyede’s mentees, stated that he has drawn key leadership lessons from the Registrar’s transparency and refusal to trade blame despite the availability of justifications and traceable sources of error.

“As a budding administrator, I have learnt significant lessons from the present circumstances, most importantly, your depth of leadership courage, selflessness, team spirit, and rare ability to openly accept responsibility without bulk-passing,” he wrote.

The Rector further commended JAMB for the corrective steps taken to allow the affected candidates retake the examination, expressing confidence in the Board’s commitment to preventing future occurrences.

He concluded with prayers for divine guidance and continued success for the JAMB Registrar in his responsibilities.
