Mopamuro LG Chairman Condemns Killing of Mr. Opeyemi Orunmbe, Calls for Peaceful Coexistence

The Executive Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area, Hon. Ademola Bello, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Mr. Opeyemi Orunmbe, a promising young man who lost his life during violence outbreak at a masquerade festival on Sunday, May 24, 2025.

Describing the incident as tragic, senseless, and deeply disturbing, Hon. Bello said the loss has sent shockwaves across the local government, plunging the community into grief and mourning. “This heinous act has deprived a family of a beloved son, a community of a vibrant contributor, and society of a life filled with potential,” he stated.

In a statement issued by his SSA on Media and Publicity, Olowu Juwon, the Chairman expressed deep sorrow over the incident and emphasized that such violence has no place in a civilized society. He directed security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, stressing that the perpetrators must be brought to justice without delay. “No individual, family, or community should have to endure such devastating loss in such a cruel and unjust manner,” he added.

Hon. Bello extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to find solace in the support of friends, community members, and the cherished memories of their loved one.

“This tragedy reinforces the urgent need for collective action in promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual respect,” he said. “I call on traditional leaders, security agencies, and community stakeholders to work together in identifying and addressing the root causes of communal violence, and to foster a safe environment where every resident can live without fear.”
