Kogi Youth Commissioner Commends NYCN Ofu Chapter for Developmental Project at Okele Roundabout

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kogi State, Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, has commended the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ofu Local Government chapter, for successfully executing a transformative roundabout beautification project at Okele, Ejule in the Igalaogba District of Ofu LGA.
The project was formally commissioned yesterday by the Commissioner, alongside the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo. The event drew a wide array of dignitaries, including members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, local government officials, and community leaders.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner, Anyebe lauded the NYCN Ofu chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Sadam Agbodu, for demonstrating initiative, focus, and commitment to community development barely months into their tenure. He described the project as a bold statement of purpose, proving that young people can be agents of transformation when given the opportunity and support.

“I am deeply impressed by what the NYCN Ofu chapter has achieved in such a short time. This project is not just about infrastructure; it is about reclaiming the narrative and placing Ofu on the map for positive reasons. It speaks volumes about the leadership quality of Comrade Agbodu and his team,” he stated.
Hon. Anyebe also used the opportunity to appreciate the leadership of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, whose inclusive governance style, he said, has created the enabling environment for youth to thrive and contribute meaningfully to societal growth. “In the past, youths were often associated with disruption, but today, they are becoming builders of peace and progress. This is a testament to the visionary leadership of our governor,” he added.
The Commissioner urged the NYCN and other youth organizations across the state to emulate the Ofu chapter’s dedication and to continue being vanguards of development in their communities.

In his address, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, also applauded the youth for changing the narrative of Ejule, a community once stigmatized for political violence. “Today, Ejule is being celebrated not for thuggery but for producing the Deputy Governor and for youths who are now builders of their land. This is history being rewritten by responsible young people,” he remarked.
