Olamaboro, Ankpa Youths Hail Governor Ododo’s One Year in Office as Reassuring, Demand Sustained Development
Youths in Olamaboro and Ankpa Local Government Areas of Kogi State have described Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s one year in office as reassuring and impactful, lauding his administration’s commitment to security, youth empowerment, and inclusive development.
Speaking during the ongoing Kogi Youth Townhall Meeting held in Okpo, headquarters of Olamaboro LGA, the youths expressed satisfaction with the Governor’s performance in key sectors such as security, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, student bursary support, and empowerment of young people. They particularly commended the appointment of Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, describing it as a bold step in recognizing youth competence and grassroots inclusion.




Simon Atajachi, one of the youth leaders, appealed to the state government to construct the Imane Township Road, while other participants called for the provision of utility vehicles to strengthen local security architecture, employment of local government workers and more inclusion of youths in the government.
Chairman of Olamaboro LGA, Hon. Ameh Williams, praised the Commissioner for initiating the youth engagement platform, describing the townhall meeting as timely and strategic. He used the opportunity to present an account of his stewardship and announced plans to establish a youth hub that will serve as a center for youth-driven innovation and development.

Responding, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, appreciated the youths for their support and active participation in the meeting. He stated that Governor Ododo has exceeded expectations within his first year in office, citing road construction, revitalization of primary healthcare centers, and massive investment in youth and women empowerment through skills acquisition programs.



He assured that all feedback received during the meeting would be compiled and transmitted to the Governor for necessary policy action.
In a similar townhall meeting held at the NULGE Hall in Ankpa, youths of Ankpa LGA also paid glowing tributes to Governor Ododo for his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy. They praised the Governor for his visionary leadership, describing the youth engagement platform as a significant avenue for inclusive governance.
Executive Chairman of Ankpa LGA, Hon. Engr. Ademu Mohammed Yahaya, who received the Commissioner and his delegation, expressed delight at the initiative. He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to implement impactful youth-centered programs.

“This townhall meeting is not just ceremonial; it is a call to action for youths to reposition themselves as drivers of change,” he said. “Governor Ododo is not only investing in infrastructure and human capital, he is also investing in the minds of our young people.”
Engr. Yahaya reiterated the council’s loyalty to Governor Ododo and the All Progressives Congress (APC), assuring that Ankpa remains solidly behind the administration’s development agenda.



With the conclusion of the townhall meetings in Olamaboro and Ankpa, the youth engagement train is expected to move to other local government areas as the state government continues its statewide consultations with young people.
