Purported Suspension of Abejide Laughable – Kogi ADC

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described as “laughable” the purported suspension of the Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Hon. Leke Abejide, by a faction loyal to former State Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Temitope Ogga.

In a statement issued in Lokoja by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Tayo Johnson, the party said the alleged suspension was null and void, stressing that Mr. Ogga lacks the authority to take such action as he was expelled from the party in 2022.

According to the statement, Mr. Ogga was removed following a vote of no confidence passed by the executive of his Odo Ara/Omi/Ogga Ward over alleged fraudulent activities, a decision that was ratified by both the Local Government and State Executive Committees and has never been overturned.

“We do not recognize Kingsley Ogga. His expulsion remains valid, and as a non-member of the ADC, he cannot speak for or take any decision on behalf of the party,” the statement read.

The party reaffirmed Hon. Abejide as the undisputed leader of the ADC in Kogi State and at the national level, noting that he remains the only elected ADC representative in the state and across Nigeria.

The State Working Committee also urged security agencies to apprehend Mr. Ogga for alleged impersonation, accusing him of causing damage to the party by parading himself as State Chairman despite his expulsion.

The SWC further distanced itself from the ongoing coalition movement at the national level, saying it would announce its political position at the appropriate time.
