Kogi East: It Is Better to Be Strategic Than Engage in Unnecessary Complaints

BY Dr. Nelson Ugbedeojo Peter

Following the state government’s recent approval for the establishment of hostels for medical students at CUSTECH, Osar; The construction of staff quarters for doctors at CUSTECH Teaching Hospital, Okene; The completion of the Faculty of Engineering at CUSTECH, Osara to world-class standard; The supply of furniture for students at CUSTECH, Osara.

Many voices have risen with complaints from different quarters, alleging that the government is marginalizing the existing university in Kogi East Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) simply because it is not located in the governor’s zone.

Before we go further, let us remember that PAAU, Anyigba, recently got approval to run MBBS and other important courses through the direct intervention of the governor.

It is good to demand more dividends of democracy for our zone, but we must be strategic in doing so. Insults, name-calling, and unnecessary banter will not bring development constructive negotiation will.

Most importantly, whatever the government does at Confluence University, Osara, is not for one tribe alone. The facilities will serve the people of Igala, Ebira, and Okun alike. These structures are for the collective benefit of all.

In conclusion, let us remain calm and continue to appeal to the state government for more development across every part of Kogi State.
