Gov Ododo Pays Condolence Visits to Families of Accident Victims, Assures Sustained Government Support

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the families of the victims of the tragic accident that occurred on Wednesday along the Lokoja–Okene road, claiming six lives and leaving several others injured.

The victims were returning from the commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, hosted earlier in the day at the Government House, Lokoja, when the heartbreaking incident happened.

Describing the tragedy as a deeply painful moment for the entire state, Governor Ododo noted that the deceased were patriotic citizens who had come to participate in an event that celebrated inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities. He said their passing represents a profound loss to Kogi State.

During the visit, the Governor met privately with each bereaved family, offering prayers, words of encouragement, and assurances of the Government’s unwavering support. He reaffirmed that the Kogi State Government stands firmly with the grieving families and will continue to provide all necessary assistance, both now and in the days ahead.

Governor Ododo also restated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the full recovery of the injured who are receiving treatment in various health facilities across the state. He directed the Ministry of Health and relevant emergency agencies to maintain close contact with the families and ensure that all medical, welfare, and psychosocial needs are promptly addressed.

The Governor further called on the people of Kogi State to unite in prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The Kogi State Government once again extends its deepest condolences to all the affected families and prays that God grants them the strength to bear this painful and irreparable loss.
