Ahovi Yusuf Enters Reps Race, Seeks Stronger Voice for Adavi/Okehi Constituents
A former Commissioner for Works in Kogi State, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, has formally declared his intention to contest the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 House of Representatives election, outlining a development-driven agenda centred on infrastructure, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance.
Ahovi Yusuf made the declaration on Saturday during the unveiling of his manifesto at LGEA Osisi Primary School Field in Adavi Local Government Area.
Addressing members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stakeholders, and supporters, he described his ambition as a call to service anchored on experience, competence, and a commitment to delivering tangible results.

He pledged to work closely with key stakeholders to provide effective representation, attract federal presence, and facilitate development projects to the constituency. According to him, his decision to seek election is aimed at bringing governance closer to the people while consolidating the development strides of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo within the Adavi/Okehi axis.
“I envision a constituency where the people have a stronger voice, where youths are empowered, women are supported, and communities enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.
The APC aspirant emphasised that his legislative approach would prioritise road infrastructure, education, economic opportunities, and youth development. He also highlighted plans for vocational training, ICT skills acquisition, and support for small businesses, noting that empowering young people remains central to his agenda.
“Our youths are the backbone of our communities; we will not only train them but empower them to become self-reliant,” he added.

On infrastructure, Ahovi Yusuf underscored the need to improve access to potable water, identifying the revitalisation of the Osara Dam as a key priority. He described access to clean water as a fundamental right of the people.
He further assured constituents of transparent and accountable leadership, promising regular engagement and openness in the execution of constituency projects. “This is your mandate; your voice will always be heard,” he stated.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commissioner for Works, Ahovi Yusuf noted that infrastructure projects executed under his leadership were strategically designed to stimulate economic growth, improve connectivity, and uplift communities. He said the same results-oriented approach would guide his work at the National Assembly.
He also pledged to build strategic alliances within the legislature to attract policies and programmes that would benefit the constituency and ensure it secures its fair share of national opportunities.
Kogi Ahovi Yusuf previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Solid Minerals before his appointment as Commissioner for Works. He resigned from the cabinet in March to pursue his political ambition.
Stakeholders from across the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency have endorsed his candidacy, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver effective representation.
Political observers say his entry into the race introduces a candidate with administrative experience, political structure, and a clearly defined vision, which could significantly shape the contest ahead of the 2027 general elections.
