CAN Hails Gov. Ododo’s Development Strides, Inclusive Governance

The Christian Association of Nigeria has commended the administration of Ahmed Usman Ododo for what it described as an inclusive, people-oriented and result-driven style of governance in Kogi State.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the state leadership of CAN to the Governor at the Government House in Lokoja on Thursday. The visit, according to the association, was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the state government, promoting institutional synergy, encouraging constructive engagement, and fostering a stronger relationship between government and the people for improved service delivery.

The delegation was led by the State Chairman of CAN and comprised representatives of the five major blocs of the association, alongside the 21 Local Government Area Chairmen of CAN in the state.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, who facilitated the engagement, praised Governor Ododo’s open-door leadership style, noting that it has enhanced accessibility to government and encouraged greater interaction between the administration and critical stakeholders across the state.

He said the Governor’s approach has helped bridge the gap between government and the people, thereby enabling citizens to receive more attention and responsiveness from the administration.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of CAN highlighted several achievements of the Ododo administration, including government support for Christian activities in the state, the ongoing renovation and construction of 628 public schools, regular payment of salaries, tax relief measures for civil servants, and the construction of 110 cottage hospitals across Kogi State.

The CAN Chairman also lauded the ongoing development of the Kogi International Airport and other people-centred projects being executed by the administration, describing them as evidence of the Governor’s commitment to the welfare and development of the state.

Responding, Governor Ododo appreciated the Christian body for the visit, prayers and continued support for his administration. He commended the Christian community in the state for its peaceful conduct, law-abiding disposition and contributions to harmonious coexistence in Kogi State.

The Governor urged Christians in the state to sustain the values of peace, integrity, unity and respect for constituted authority, assuring the delegation that the concerns and requests presented during the visit would receive prompt attention, just as previous requests had been addressed by his administration.
