Despite heavy rainfall, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kogi State, Ali Bello, on Tuesday inspected the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern market project in Lokoja, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure that will stimulate economic activities and create business opportunities.
The inspection tour saw the Chief of Staff accompanied by the Commissioner for Works, Barr. Salami Momodu Ozigi Deedat; the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Haruna Ohiani Taiye; the Majority Leader of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Abdulrazak; and the Chief Consultant on the project, Hon. Kabir Onorouiza.
Addressing contractors and project officials at the site, Ali Bello commended the pace of work and emphasized the importance of the market project to the economic transformation agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He urged the contractors to treat the project with utmost dedication and commitment, stressing that the administration expects the facility to become a major commercial centre capable of attracting investors and boosting trade in the state.
“This project should be handled as though it is your personal investment. The expectations of the government and the people of Kogi State are high because this market is strategically designed to transform Lokoja into a major commercial hub and drive economic growth,” he said.
The Chief of Staff noted that Governor Ododo’s administration remains focused on delivering impactful infrastructure projects that will improve the livelihoods of citizens and position Kogi State as a destination for investment and commerce.
The ultra-modern market project, when completed, is expected to provide a conducive trading environment for merchants, decongest existing markets and significantly enhance commercial activities in Lokoja, the state capital.
The inspection, carried out despite the adverse weather conditions, stresses the administration’s determination to ensure that ongoing projects are delivered according to specifications and within the stipulated timeframe.
Residents and stakeholders who witnessed the visit commended the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, expressing optimism that the project would open up new economic opportunities and contribute significantly to the growth and prosperity of Kogi State.
