Zonal Security Adviser Participates in Kogi-Benue Security Handshake Meeting to Strengthen Border Security

The Zonal Security Adviser, Ankpa Federal Axis, on Thursday participated in a strategic security handshake meeting involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Kogi State Police Command, and the Benue State Police Command, aimed at strengthening collaboration in securing border communities and combating cross-border crimes.

The meeting, hosted by the Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area, brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, women leaders, youth representatives, and other critical stakeholders to deliberate on measures for enhancing security and promoting peaceful coexistence along the Kogi–Benue border.

Discussions centered on improving cooperation between security agencies and local communities through intelligence sharing, community policing initiatives, and coordinated efforts to address criminal activities, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and other cross-border offences.

Speaking during the meeting, participants stressed that sustainable security can only be achieved through strong partnerships between security agencies and the public. Community stakeholders pledged their support by encouraging residents to provide timely and credible information to security operatives to aid crime prevention and response.

The Zonal Security Adviser, Ankpa Federal Axis, commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support for security agencies in their efforts to combat crime across the state. He also praised the Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area for convening the meeting, describing the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening inter-state security cooperation and fostering lasting peace in border communities.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote peace, security, and the protection of lives and property across the Kogi-Benue border axis.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Kogi and Benue State Police Commands, local authorities, and community stakeholders to sustain collaboration and intensify efforts aimed at tackling cross-border crimes and enhancing the safety of residents in the region.
