Kogi at 35: Fanwo Congratulates Ododo, Kogites, Urges Unity
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has congratulated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the people of the state on the 35th anniversary of Kogi State’s creation, urging residents to remain united and committed to the state’s development.
Fanwo, in a congratulatory message issued on Thursday, August 27, 2026, said the anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on the efforts and aspirations of the state’s founding fathers who pushed for the creation of Kogi and the establishment of a distinct political identity for its people.
“Today, we mark the 35th anniversary of the creation of Kogi State. We remember the intense hopes, the collective efforts and the bold dreams of our founding fathers who fought for the creation of the state and the establishment of a distinct political identity,” he said.
The commissioner noted that Kogi had evolved over the past 35 years into a state with significant natural resources and human capital, which he said could position it as a major contributor to Nigeria’s economic growth and revenue base.
He acknowledged the contributions of successive administrations to the development of the state, particularly in infrastructure, education, security, peace and economic development.
According to him, the immediate past and present administrations have laid foundations aimed at addressing some of the challenges confronting the state while creating opportunities for further development.
Fanwo also highlighted the administration of Governor Ododo, saying the government had continued to focus on infrastructure, security, citizens’ welfare and human capital development as part of efforts to improve the quality of life of residents.
He called on Kogites to rededicate themselves to unity, hard work, peace and collective responsibility, stressing that the continued progress of the state required the contribution of its citizens.
“As we reflect on our journey and celebrate how far we have come, let us remain united in our resolve to build a more productive, prosperous, peaceful and vibrant state for current and future generations. Long live our wonderful state,” Fanwo stated.
The 35th anniversary provides an occasion for reflection on Kogi State’s journey since its creation and the collective responsibility of government and citizens in shaping its future.
