Gov Bello charges APC reconciliation committees in Kogi State to win members to fold

A committee to reconcile all warring parties in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been set up for the 21 Local Government Areas  in Kogi State and the three senatorial districts.

Performing the inauguration at the party's state secretariat in Lokoja,  Governor Yahaya Bello enjoined members to ensure due diligence and win more members into the party's fold.

Bello who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole enjoined the committees to see themselves as ambassador of the party in its renewed commitment towards ensuring that all matters that seemed to isolate members were tackled and the inclusion of new faithful into the APC family.

He called on the committees to ensure justice and fairness in the discharge of their functions, while also urging them to be truthful and sincere in the compilation of their reports.

The Governor who also said politics was a game of number, tasked the committee to do everything necessary to swell the party's ranks.

In his address, the Chairman of the party in Kogi State, Hon Abdullahi Bello said the essence of the committees was in line with the new vision of the state government which sought to provide a level playing field for all party stakeholders.

He said members of the committees were people with depth knowledge of the workings of the party, and urged them not to only see that aggrieved members were returned to the fold, but also ensure that new members were added to the APC.

Hon Bello, who admitted to appreciating the onerous task before the committees, noted that they were surmountable as APC hierarchy was ready to provide them with necessary support to succeed.

The party secretary, Hon Joshua Onoja who read out names of members of the committees, highlighted their terms of reference to include facilitating peace among the party's ranks and file, facilitate networking and peace among members and organs of the party,  facilitate proper and enduring reconciliation among members and the party's leadership among other terms.

In their seperate remarks, dignitaries at the occasion praised the genuine desire being shown by the party and government in Kogi State for an enduring peace in the party and the polity.

Those who gave goodwill messages include former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Bello; the immediate past Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Smart Adeyemi; political figure from Kogi East, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho; and Alhaji Linco Ocheje.
