KGSG appoints 21 traditional rulers to council

The Kogi State Government has approved the appointment of 21 traditional rulers into the state traditional council.

Briefing newsmen at the state Government House in Lokoja after the state executive council meeting on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Abubakar Ohere gave the breakdown to include one First Class Chief, four Second Class Chiefs and 16 of who fall under the third class category.

The commissioner who further revealed the identity of the new chiefs to include Chief Ayeni Segun Williams as the new Olujumu of Ijumuland in Ijumu Local Government Area also said Mallam  Muhammad Ganaguda Momoh has also been appointed as Ohinoyi of Girinya in Kogi Local Government Area, said their appointments is in conformity with Article 20 D, No 23 of the Kogi State Council of Chiefs Law.

Also appointed, the commissioner revealed, include Mallam Muhammed Sani as the Agankyu of Kakanda in Lokoja Local Government Area; Alhaji Abdulkareem Ibrahim Alaba, as the Olu-Ejuku of Ejuku in Yagba East Local Government Area and Engr. Noah Olusegun as Oba of kponyan in Yagba East LGA.

Hon Ohere who also mentioned the appointment of Suleiman Akowe Adeka as Adeika of Ozi-Adeika in Adavi LGA also said Ishaka Ademu has also been appointed as Onu-Ogodo in Ankpa LGA, while the appointment of Alhaji Umar Zakari as Onu- Aloga Ika in Ankpa LGA, along with that of Mr. Samuel Agbenyo Ukuteno as the Aduoja of Adumuo in Bassa LGA.

He further revealed to journalists that the state government has appointed Alhaji Momoh Obaje as the Epa-Attah in Idah LGA, while Yakubu Paul Adaji has also been confirmed as the Ogohi of Okura-Olafia in Dekina LGA.

Also confirmed is the appointment of Chief Anthony Bamgboye Idowu as the Olu-Ade of Ekinrin-Ade in Ijumu LGA, Mallam Ibrahim Nuhu as the Ohinoyi of Adangere in Kogi LGA, Mr Idris Alhassan Yusuf as Yerima of Tawari in Kogi LGA and Mallam Abdulmalik Bawa Attah as Etsu of Ikansanmi in Lokoja LGA and David Ojo Akande as Otaru-Idu of Adobani in Ogori/Magongo LGA.

Others are Olatunde Alao as Otaru-Oki Ogori in Ogori/Magongo LGA, Shedrack Durojaye Obibeni as Oba of Idofin-Isanlu in Yagba East LGA, Prince Oladele Adetogun as Aleru of Eru in Yagba East LGA, Chief Aribigbe Joseph Osasona as Owa of Jegge in Yagba East LGA and Mr Abiodun Agbana as Baale of Egbe in Yagba East LGA.

The appointments, he added, take immediate effect.

Earlier, the state commissioner for Agriculture and natural Resources, Hon Kehinde Oloruntoba had stated that government approved the sum of N56m to be paid as the state’s counterpart funding for Fadama III project by the World Banki.

The sum, the commissioner said, would enable the state benefit from the global financial institution’s 2018 Fadama project which over 15, 000 people had benefitted across the 21 LGAs of the state before now.

He said the project would also assist the state in its drive towards attracting youth empowerment programme of the state.

Speaking earlier, the state Director General for Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo said the council gave approval for the establishment of State Health Insurance Scheme for the state civil servants.

He said arrangements have been concluded for an executive bill to be sent to the state House of Assembly to fast track the establishment of the agency.
