Senate receive budget report six month after presentation

Senate committee on Appropriation on Tuesday presented report on the 2018 budget estimates, six months after presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari
Chairman of the committee, Senator Danjumo Goje, submitted the report to other senators in plenary.
It would be recalled that both upper and lower chamber had promised to pass the budget by April 24 and also in the first week of May but have failed in both timeline as the 2018 budget was not passed.
Several accusations had however emanated from the legislative arm concerning the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies who have failed to appear before the standing committees to defend their budget.
President Buhari Buhari who on Nov. 7, 2017 presented a budget of N8.6 trillion before a joint session of the National Assembly and tagged it “Budget of Consolidation” as he explained that the projected spendings would drive rapid economic recovery.
He mentioned in his presentation that the budget would help consolidate on the success of past budgets to aggressively steer the country's economy to acheive a steady growth.
