“A Boost for Confidence and Education” – Wemi Jones Hails Sanitary Pad Initiative in Kogi
In a significant stride toward promoting menstrual hygiene and supporting the education of the girl child, the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has expressed deep appreciation to the Wife of the Governor and the Wife of the President for their unwavering commitment to the well-being of young girls.
This commendation came as the Flow With Confidence Official initiative formally flagged off the distribution of 10,000 disposable sanitary pads to school girls across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
The impactful event took place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja, drawing stakeholders from the education sector, government officials, and advocates of girl-child development.
Hon. Wemi Jones noted that the initiative represents a vital intervention in addressing menstrual health challenges that often hinder girls’ academic performance and school attendance. He emphasized that access to sanitary products is not just a health issue but a matter of dignity, confidence, and equal opportunity in education.
According to him, the collaborative effort championed by the Wife of the Governor, with support from the Wife of the President, underscores a shared vision of empowering young girls to stay in school and thrive without limitations.
“This initiative is a testament to compassionate leadership and a clear demonstration of commitment to the future of our girls. It will go a long way in boosting their confidence and ensuring they remain focused on their education,” he stated.
The Flow With Confidence program aims to break the silence around menstrual health while providing practical support to girls, particularly in underserved communities. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
The event concluded with the symbolic distribution of sanitary pads, marking the beginning of a statewide rollout that is expected to positively affect thousands of school girls.
With initiatives like this, Kogi State continues to set a progressive example in prioritizing education, health, and the empowerment of the next generation.
