Associate Professor M.K Ibrahim Transformational Leadership at Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa

The impending exit of Associate Professor Mohammed K. Ibrahim from Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa has been a widely discussed topic, especially following reports that the Governor of Kogi State has appointed his replacement. His tenure, which began in 2021 under the administration of former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, was initially met with skepticism.
However, he quickly proved his critics wrong by making remarkable contributions that repositioned the institution for excellence.

Upon assumption of office, the young Provost embarked on an ambitious transformation agenda. His leadership revamped the physical and academic infrastructure of the Colleges, including the renovation of classrooms, staff offices, and the enhancement of security architecture.

Before his appointment, the institution like other of its peers in the country struggled with low student enrollment. However, through strategic thinking he instituted the Educational Endowment Scheme leaveraging on his networks to ramp up enrollment figures into various programs of the College. In addition, the Provost deep understanding of academic development attracted many students back to the College reinforcing its reputation as a center for quality teacher training. A notable example is the three-year scholarship scheme initiated by Rt. Hon. David Idris Zacharias, the member representing Idah Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations in the 10th National Assembly.

Additionally, many Kogites and other well-meaning stakeholders have shown interest with his vision, contributing resources to enhance the institution’s development.

Under his leadership, Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, saw a significant increase in accredited courses, expanding the academic options available to students.

One of the Provost major achievements is efficiently driving the Public-Private Partnership Model to draw significant development in numerous areas of the College. These interventions have come from organizations such as Nigerian Gas Company of Nigeria, MSU, APPEALS, and numerous other private sector organizations at zero cost to the College.

As Mohammed K. Ibrahim prepares to leave office, his legacy remains one of dedication, transformation, and progress. His visionary leadership not only uplifted the academic standing of the College but also restored confidence in its ability to produce quality teachers for the State and Nation at large.

His exit may mark the end of an era, but his contributions will undoubtedly shape the future of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, for years to come.
