Yunusa Ishaq Killing: Ajaka Offers ₦5m Reward »

Kogi APC chieftain Yakubu Murtala Ajaka has offered a ₦5 million reward for credible information that could assist security agencies in arresting more suspects linked to the killing of the late All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Dekina Local Government Area, Alhaji Yunusa Onu Ishaq.

Ajaka, in a statement, welcomed the reported arrests made in connection with the killing and commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies involved in the investigation.

He urged the security agencies to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, apprehend suspects still at large and intensify operations against criminal groups operating along the Ejule Road, Dekina axis and other parts of Kogi East.

“I welcome the reported arrests in connection with the killing of late Alhaji Yunusa Onu Ishaq, the APC Chairman of Dekina LGA. I commend the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies involved in the investigation,” Ajaka said.

He added that the authorities should “establish the full facts, pursue those still at large, and intensify operations against the criminals who have brought fear to communities”.

Ishaq was killed in an attack on motorists along the Itobe-Ochadamu Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area on August 27, 2026. The Kogi State Police Command had said armed assailants attacked motorists along the route, while another occupant of the vehicle was abducted.

The police subsequently commenced operations with other security agencies to search surrounding forests, rescue the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Ajaka said members of the public with credible information capable of helping the police arrest those responsible for kidnappings and other violent crimes could contact the Kogi State Commissioner of Police.

He also said such information could be sent to him directly through text messages or his verified social media platforms, promising to forward relevant information to the police.

According to him, the ₦5 million reward would be paid after the police had verified the information and confirmed that it had produced results.

“This is my little way of encouraging people with vital information to support the work of our security agencies,” Ajaka said.

He said he would formally communicate the reward commitment to the Commissioner of Police and other security chiefs in Kogi State.

Ajaka also called on residents to regard community safety as a collective responsibility, urging them to support security agencies with credible information.

“We are all stakeholders in the safety of our communities and must work together so our people can live, work, and travel without fear,” he said.

The reported killing of Ishaq had earlier prompted calls for improved security along vulnerable routes in Kogi East. Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo also visited the late APC chairman’s family in Anyigba in September and called for an end to violence in the area.
