Ankpa Council Chairman Receives Newly Installed Onu-Okenyi

The Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Ademu Muhammed Yahaya, has received the newly installed Onu-Okenyi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yahaya Imam.

Receiveing the traditional ruler on behalf of the Council Chairman, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Halimat Imam reiterated government’s commitment in partnering with traditional institutions geared towards entrusting peace and unity within the local council.

She congratulated the just coronated traditional ruler for being the choice of his people, having gone through all rigorous processes in accordance with the constitution, customs, and traditions of Okenyi Kingdom, leading to his ascension on the throne.

The Chairman lauded the Kogi state Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for creating the enabling environment for the community to choose their king, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration between the government and traditional institutions, recognizing their valuable roles in community development and preserving cultural heritage.

The Chairman appealed to the newly ordained monarch to be father of all, as he expects peace, fairness, justice and love in his community in general.

In his response, the monarch, Alhaji Yahaya Imam expressed his gratitude to God, Okenyi community and Government of Kogi State for the opportunity to serve in such capacity, and pledged his commitment towards the promotion of peace, progress, and cultural preservation in Okenyi and beyond, where necessary.

The monarch acknowledged the support of his people and promised to work closely with the local government to address the community’s needs and challenges.

Notably, the Chairman’s receipt of the newly chosen paramount ruler of Okenyi kingdom, signifies sheer acceptability and a new chapter in Okenyi community’s history.
